One colour for every date

The palette covers all 366 days of a leap year. January 1 opens the year in deep winter, the colours walk through spring greens, summer aquas and autumn ambers, and December closes on frost and midnight. Because the table is fixed, a date always returns the same colour.

Where the palette comes from

The 366 colours were commissioned for this site and placed in day order, following the seasons. Each entry is a named colour with a hex value you can use in any design tool. None of it is scraped from elsewhere, which is why the names here read like paint chips rather than like a random number generator.

How to look yours up

Use the finder: pick the month and day of your birthday and the page for that date opens with the swatch, the hex code, the colour word and the palettes built around it. Nothing is stored and no account is needed.

What a colour word means

A colour word is a one-word mood label, like the name on a paint chip. It is a short handle for the feeling of the colour. It is not a personality test and it does not describe everyone born on that date.

What to do with it

People use their colour as a wallpaper, a notebook cover, a nail colour, a background for a birthday card or a small accent in a room. If you want the full set, the colour report widens it into palettes, tints and shades.
